Arielle Cifuentes- Map

  1. My area of focus is art; mainly architecture/design. I am interested in model making. I feel I am very good at math and I also have good ideas. However, I want to get better at expressing my ideas through art. I like the idea of designing buildings/houses/sports stadiums/etc, and then designing the model to make my blueprints come to life; show people exactly what I see in my mind.

  2. For my final project I know I want to make a 3-D Model of something. However, I don’t know what I my “problem” or question to be… 😦

  3. I think this is a great start ~ it might be useful to begin looking at different architectural styles OR at different “programs” (like, say, stadium design) and use your work to respond to what architects are doing (or have done) already. Are you familiar with architects, or not really? And have you used any 3D modeling programs, like SketchUp? I think you have a lot to work with, and it would be useful to spend the next couple of weeks investigating these things. The problem will emerge from that. We can talk more specifically in class, but someone who’s coming to mind is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zaha_Hadid. Take a look at her work. She’s almost more of an artist than an architect; she doesn’t have many buildings that have actually been constructed, but she’s quite famous.

  4. My internship is at an architecture firm on 19st. I talk to them all the time about what they should major in and the models that they make. Not everyone at there makes models; there are a select few that make detailed models, the rest of them make the shape of the building and use that as a model. I am interested in detailed model making. I am starting to think I am more interested in the art than I am interested in the architecture.

  5. I am looking at books to read. There are plently of books on 3D Models. Mostly books like Popville. I want to make a mini city; or maybe one place, but a very detailed model of that place.

  6. Knowing how creative and how into architecture you are has gotten me really excited to see your final project. After talking to you about your ideas i’m certain it’ll be a success!

  7. I think this project idea is great because you might be doing this in a future and if you experience the work now it will really help you make sure that thats what you want to do.
