My area of Focus was science but now I desperately would love to change. Science research is just not for me. I love current issue, government/politics, News, Tech, Comedy, I want to do something I love but I’m all over the place so its hard to “pick”.
It the last comment I said that I saw those 2 documentaries, and I really want to use them as examples.
In the first documentary “Waiting for Superman”, I thought that would be what I wanted to strive to, but as I kept watching I saw that there issue was how Public Schools were failing, this is NOT what I want to do. There topic is education, mine is Freedom of speech. But the Documentary had some very nice techniques in use. Which I think I shall use, they included Talking to students parents, and higher officials, which I guess many documentaries incorporate. They also did elementary schools, I want to use highscools and colleges primarily, and maybe middle schools, just maybe.
The second documentary was “Capitalism a Love Story”. Micheal Moore is just the best person, not to imitate but aspire to be when looking at or making Documentaries. He made documentaries like Fahrenheit 9/11, Sicko, and Capitalism a love story. What I really liked about that movie in particular, is that it really touched the people that this movie was meant for. It not only had a message but it delivered it as well. I’m not saying that I will do anything special, that I shall bring reform or anything like that, but it’s always nice to try. He used the experiences of the people to prove his point.
This is a really interesting topic actually. I feel like Mr. Strauss could help out with this, what with him being a history teacher and all. Plus, he’s just cool.
As for picking an actual topic, you seem to be leaning towards some kind of documentary. Documentaries are also cool
Question is How do public Schools violate the first amendmant?
My medium will be film more specifically a documentary, something such as Capitalism a love story, or waiting for superman. (not march of the penguins)
It affects 80,000,000 million people in the U.S. Alone
M – I’m excited to read through the evolution of your ideas here. I’ll be interested to hear what kind of feedback you get from Mr. Strauss. At this point, I think documentary works well, and it’ll be interesting to see what other films come up in your research. Waiting for Superman is an interesting precedent for “impact” – like An Inconvenient Truth, it got a lot of people talking about an issue that they weren’t talking about before – but I’m wondering what other films have been made re: the first amendment and/or schools.
1.My question has to do with youth protest, something like that.
2.Medium will be film, Documentary.
3.I care because I feel as though the our generations apathy has severely plunged. There are terrible things happening and were not doing anything about, like the kids in england with the riots on school tuition.
4.My plan so far is to work with Mr.Strauss who has really helped me so far, with my writing.
5. My audience I think is any where from high school and up. I think that people will care and it’s important because I think it might motivate people to do something about it.

Marek – I’m excited about your new project idea/question that we talked about after class on Friday. Please post it here!
So I watched 2 documentaries that I think relate very much to mine. They are
1.)Waiting For Superman.
2.)Capitalism a love story.
I liked them because they were current issue, and affected the lives of the American People.

So I have completed all of the spring break assignments 1-5. That was fun. Lets do that again.

I really like your topic and I think making a documentary for this will be great.
Hey guys thank you for all the feed back,
I think that a documentary would be the best. I haven’t seen anything documentary wise on this subject.
From the comments above and the amount of media/video related ideas on your map, this just screams documentary.
That’s such a cool idea. Have you decided what medium you’re going to use?

4-5 to come.

So far right now I think by question is subject to reform. There is something that I feel as though I need to switch.
I want to stay with youth and speech, but I need to figure out what I want to do.
4 and 5 have come and 1 came back as well.
HW.
